Temporary Church Office Receptionist

Grove Baptist Church, located in Portsmouth, Virginia looking to hire a Temporary Church Office Receptionist. This is temporary to potential permanent part-time position. Responsibilities

Receive, screen, and direct callers/visitors with warmth, love, tact, and diplomacy to the appropriate staff person.
Provide requested information and/or refer to the appropriate staff person.
Take written accurate messages and distribute in a timely manner to appropriate staff person.
Pick up and receive mail, documents, packages, and courier deliveries on a daily basis. Retrieve mail from the post office each morning and drop off mail from the mailroom.
Distribute emergency fund applications, and connect applicants to the Associate Pastor of Congregational Care.
Take registrations for ministry programs and special events as needed.
Check, Inventory, and sign for deliveries and notify relevant staff of their arrival.
Ensure church business is handled with strict confidentiality and professionalism.
Assist with database management as requested by the Minister of Administration.
Participate in monthly staff meetings and be responsible for taking minutes and maintaining electronic copies for record keeping.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent program with specialized knowledge in occupational. specific training such as business or secretarial course work.
Requires 1-year experience including hands-on clerical and administration work.
Requires typing skills at a minimum of 40 wpm.
Requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Requires organizational ability to plan and complete individual and group tasks.
Able to pass a background check.
